Our
boards start out at 4.25", 6.25" and 8.25". Then we kiln dry them
which shrinks them a ¼". They are then straight-line ripped to 3.75,
5.75 and 7.75. Finally they are machined to tongue and groove with
final widths of 3.5", 5.5" and 7.5 "
The actual face width is one quarter less at 3.25 etc. due to the
¼" tongue. Most manufacturers expect you to pay for an additional
10% for defect. You have to buy 1100 square feet of their wood to
cover 1000 feet of your floor!
Old Wood is committed to selling you all the wood you need to cover your floor with no additional material needed to make up for defect. We believe we are the only ones in our industry doing this right now. ORDER THE SQUARE FOOTAGE YOU NEED! Add a small amount over if you are not sure, say 2-3%.
Give us as much time as you can but often we can accommodate smaller orders within one week or less. Larger orders of course can take time, up to two months so order as far ahead as possible. For BIG orders, we can produce up to 30,000 square feet per month.
 We
have tried to price our wood fairly and make a small profit which
will allow us to pay our employees a fair living wage. We are a
certified Tree Farm and are bound to practice sustainable forestry.
We manage the woods because it is our back yard and garden
combined!
